In the early morning hours of September 16th, a routine traffic stop took an unexpected turn.
The incident unfolded at around 2:00 a.m. when officers from Huron OPP were patrolling highway 21.
Their attention was drawn to a motor vehicle parked on the roadside with its 4-ways on. Inside, officers found two occupants who had momentarily stopped for a break. However, as the vehicle resumed its northbound journey, the officers saw some erratic driving behavior.
After they pulled the car over, the driver was asked to undergo a roadside screening test. Unfortunately the driver refused to comply, resulting in their arrest.
A 21-year-old resident of Tecumseh faces a charge of “Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.”
They have been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 16th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
