Volunteers spend a lot of time organizing items for the Free Store | Photo submitted
The Huron Shores United Church Fall Free Store is coming up quickly on Friday, October 13th from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Saturday October 14th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Joanne Berry, a member of Huron Shores United Church says the Free Store started when one of the members ran into a free store where you just come, no money, yard sale type organization – nothing is marked!
They organize the Free Stores so they have one in spring on Mother’s day weekend, and one in the fall weekend after thanksgiving.
They get a lot of clothing donations for all ages. Last fall they had lots of winter coats and this spring, they has lots of kids and baby stuff including strollers, bikes etc.
They also have Household section featuring dishes, bedding and silverware which would be great for those buying their first place or going off to college.
Their church fellowship hall (lower level) is bursting at the seams! There is no more room for storage.
Although it’s perceived that grand bend area is affluent, there’s still a lot of need within the community.
In addition to helping the community, the free stores also help reduce waste from landfills.
Make sure you check out the Free Store at the Huron Shores United Church.
