In South Huron council’s meeting on Monday, (October 16), the Police Services Board’s meeting minutes and report from OPP indicated an uptick in crime in the area.
Deputy Mayor Jim Dietrich, who sits on the board, shed light on several significant issues.
One of the key points Deputy Mayor Dietrich brought up was the increased time spent on police services in the area.
Reports from the local police force indicate a noticeable upswing in assault and robbery incidents within the region. Shockingly, there has been a 46% increase in violent crime this year.
Furthermore, Deputy Mayor Dietrich said that speed monitoring measures will provide valuable insights about traffic incidents.
Police saw an increase of almost 38% in traffic complaints year over year, and a 54% increase in traffic enforcement.
