myFM tapped the expertise of Jordan Reid, owner of Reid's Hensall Automotive.
Winter is approaching, and for drivers, preparing your vehicle for the harsh elements of winter is essential.
To shed light on this, we spoke to Jordan Reid, the owner of Reid’s Hensall Automotive – he says that there are three things that every driver should consider heading into winter.
One of the first considerations is undercoating – Reid emphasizes that this process forms a protective barrier between your vehicle and the corrosive elements of winter, such as salt, sand, and moisture. It’s a vital shield against the wear and tear your vehicle can experience on snow-covered and salt-laden roads.
For those wondering about the undercoating process, it involves the use of rust inhibitors and oil-based products that are sprayed onto the vehicle’s underside. This forms a layer that repels and displaces moisture and water, preventing metals from corroding.
Tires are another critical aspect of winter preparation. Jordan recommends getting snow tires on by November 1st in our area to avoid being caught off guard.
Lastly, Jordan advises that once you’ve got your winter tires installed, it’s important to retorque them after driving approximately 100 kilometers to ensure nothing is loose.
These steps, combined with proactive maintenance, can make your winter driving experience safer and more enjoyable.
