Getting into the spirit of the Halloween season, Huron OPP officers carved pumpkins with students at Clinton Public School in grades four, five, and six on Monday.
Local businesses provided the pumpkins, carving kits, and prizes, and Huron OPP officers rolled up their sleeves and joined the young artists to craft an array of fantastic creations.
Prizes were awarded to the top three pumpkin designs, expertly judged by the school’s principal, Mr. McCutcheon, and vice principal, Mr. Allen. The students were then allowed to take their pumpkins home or use them to decorate the front of the school. Two of the winning pumpkins were given to the OPP to adorn their office.
Huron OPP Community Safety and Media Relations Officer Constable Craig Soldan expressed his enthusiasm for this unique community-building event, saying, “This was a unique and fun way to get to know our local youth a little bit better. Pumpkin carving is always a great activity, and everybody had lots of laughs.”
