The space above the bulkhead has since been adorned with a new installation
The County of Huron is extending an open invitation to artists of Indigenous ancestry – the Huron County Museum is calling for artists, to participate in the creation of a mural that will adorn the museum’s lobby.
The selected artist will paint a mural directly on the bulkhead, making it an integral part of a public art trail throughout Huron County.
A local selection committee will carefully choose the artist and guide the project. The creation and installation process will be documented as part of a storytelling initiative.
Artists interested in this project are encouraged to submit an application – the selected artist will receive $5,000 to $7,500, depending on the scale and complexity of the design.
The project timeline is as follows:
- September 30, 2023: Project Launch
- November 25, 2023: Deadline for Receiving Expressions of Interest
- November 26-30, 2023: Review and Selection of Mural Artist
- December 2023 – March 2024: Painting of Mural(s)
This exciting project promises to infuse the Huron County Museum with new life and vibrant colors, celebrating the region’s diverse cultural heritage. Interested artists can submit their applications to Karen Stewart, the Cultural Development Officer, at kstewart@huroncounty.ca no later than November 25, 2023.
