The success of the Christmas Bureau in previous years has only been made possible by the support of the community | Photo provided
Helping to make sure that every family in our community has food on the table, and gifts under the tree this Christmas, the Huron County Christmas Bureau is once again working to connect families with donors to make sure that everyone can celebrate the holiday.
Rural Response for Healthy Children has led the bureau for a few years now, and Katrina Clarke, Executive Director says that they’ve also transitioned to a more flexible solution for families. They’ve moved away from physical items and embraced the idea that a gift card gives families the flexibility to make Christmas truly special.
With an increased cost of living, the demand for assistance has surged, reaching families from diverse backgrounds.
Clarke says that she is certain, that those who donate to the bureau this year could be helping their neighbour.
One unique aspect of the Christmas Bureau is its collaborative effort involving a variety of churches from different denominations. Five bureaus, located in Goderich, Clinton, Exeter, Seaforth, and Wingham, operate as hubs for assistance – showcasing the power of diverse geographic and faith communities working together.

Clarke says that they’re excited to work with the community to make sure everyone has a reason to celebrate this holiday season.
For families seeking support, the Christmas Central phone line (1-888-705-1579) is open from November 13 to December 1, Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm – you can call them today and they will help make your holiday special with gift cards for presents, as well as a meal.
Donors looking to contribute can visit rrhc.on.ca or call 226-699-0707, extension 102. Additionally, cash and cheque donations are accepted at the bureaus from November 27 to December 1, with cheques made payable to Rural Response for Healthy Children, with Christmas Bureau in the memo line if you wish.
Let’s all work together to make sure that every family has something to celebrate this holiday season.
