It’s time for 12 days of Fire Safety, brought to you by the Lambton Shores Fire Department and South Huron Fire Department.
As the festive season approaches, Todd Mellin, the Public Education Lead at Lambton Shores Fire Department emphasized the importance of preventing common yet avoidable accidents when it comes to candles – especially with children or pets running around.
He highlighted the risk of placing candles too close to decorations, a potential hazard that often goes unnoticed. To mitigate this danger, Mellin recommended opting safer alternatives.
For those who still choose the traditional route of lighting candles, Mellin provided essential safety measures. These included keeping candles away from pets and children, placing them in sturdy containers, and always extinguishing them when leaving the room. These simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of fire incidents, ensuring a joyful and safe holiday season for all.
