It’s time for 12 days of Fire Safety, brought to you by the South Huron Fire Department, and Lambton Shores Fire Department.
While you’re having a great time with family and friends this holiday, it’s important to make sure that welcoming guests into your home doesn’t inadvertently put them in danger.
South Huron’s Fire Prevention Officer Mike Herbert, says that fatal fires reach their peak during this time of year, emphasizing the urgency for proactive fire safety measures.
Herbert stressed that a working smoke alarm is the gift of time in the event of a fire, where seconds can make a life-saving difference.
The recommendation is to have a smoke alarm on every storey of the house, tested monthly to ensure functionality. Additionally, replacing batteries annually is a simple yet impactful action that can significantly enhance overall safety.
Remember, when it comes to fire safety, preparedness is the best ornament for a secure and joyous celebration.
