The Corporation of the Municipality of Lambton Shores has been fined $50,000 following a workplace injury incident.
The conviction, handed down on December 4, stems from an incident on November 26th, 2021, at The Shores Recreation Centre.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a worker was injured while attempting to clean a Zamboni ice resurfacer – Lambton Shores failed to provide necessary information, instruction, and supervision to ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and cleaning of the ice resurfacer, leading to a workplace injury.
During the court proceedings in Sarnia, a guilty plea led to the $50,000 fine, additionally, a 25% victim fine surcharge was applied.

The Ministry of Labour originally launched an investigation after the Municipality reported a workplace injury in 2021. The Municipality worked cooperatively with the Ministry throughout their investigation and respects the recent decision by the Courts.
Immediately following the workplace injury in 2021, the Municipality identified the circumstances surrounding the incident and quickly implemented corrective actions that further enhanced existing training protocols. The Municipality remains committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our employees, with rigorous training programs in place for full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff
