Huron OPP has introduced their new CAMSafe program – designed to establish a local database of residential and commercial security cameras across the community, serving as a valuable resource for law enforcement during investigations.
The CAMSafe program operates by providing police officers with an interactive map of the local area. By clicking on registered addresses, officers can access property owner contact information, and follow up with them for relevant footage.
Community members interested in participating need only provide basic contact information and the camera’s location. Optional details, such as the camera’s direction, footage retention specifics, or even screenshots of the camera view, can be added.
Registrants maintain control over their information and have the ability to delete their accounts or modify details as needed.
To get involved in the CAMSafe program and register your security cameras, visit camsafe.ca for more information.
