Although this time of year, your mind is drawn to families that may struggle to put enough food on the table this Christmas, that momentum needs to continue, well into the New Year.
That’s according to Laurie Clapp, director of the Exeter Community Food Bank.
Clapp emphasized that the need for assistance doesn’t diminish after Christmas. In fact, the winter months often see an uptick in demand.
Addressing the question of preferred donations, Clapp mentioned unexpected shortages in items like canned soup and vegetables, as well as the continual need for lunch snacks for children. She says that while food bank education has prompted people to giving differently, those essentials are still needed.
Clapp says that the most important thing to remember is that the food bank always needs your support.
So if you’re feeling like the generosity of the holidays should spill over, all year round, consider making regular contributions to ensure the Exeter Community Food Bank, and other organizations like it can effectively serve those in need throughout the entire year.
