Hanging out on a beach, relaxing and enjoying the scene is a summertime staple activity. The only way we can continue to enjoy our beaches year after year is if we clean and take care of them.
Alyssa Bourassa, Stewardship Program Coordinator with the Lake Huron Coastal Centre says this years beach cleanup programs went exceptionally well.
Bourassa says this might be the best year ever.

In total they removed over 1,700 pounds of garbage. including Cigarette butts, Plastic pieces, Food wrappers, Paper and Bottle caps.
Without the help of the community and volunteers who helped out, Bourassa says this would not have been possible.
What drove such a big cleanup year this year was a grant from Great Lake Local Action Fund as well as local sponsorship!
In 2024, they’re hoping it will be even bigger! They hope to hold their first beach cleanup in Goderich on Earth day once again.
