The former treasurer of the Mitchell Hawks junior hockey team admitted guilty to fraud exceeding $5,000.
Corrine McKenzie, of West Perth, withdrew over $48,000 from the team’s bank account nearly two years ago.
Last month, she received a two-year conditional sentence, including house arrest and probation, and was ordered to repay the club.
The club’s president expressed relief, thanked the community for support, and hoped McKenzie received necessary help.
The fraud, discovered in May 2022, spanned almost a year.
Despite the incident, the Mitchell Hawks achieved significant success during McKenzie’s tenure, securing their first Pollock Division title in decades.
As they conclude the 2023-24 season, the team remains in seventh place in the PJHL Pollock Division.
