Bluewater may be taking a look at their by-law which limits washrooms in accessory buildings.
That’s following a discussion at council’s meeting last Tuesday (February 20th).
A property on Parr Line that houses a contracting business was applying for a by-law amendment, which would put them in conflict with existing policies.
A presentation by Planner Britt Gregg-Wallace drew attention to the lack of compatibility of the proposed amendment with existing planning policies and regulations – recommending that due to these conflicts, the application be denied.
Notably, Councillor Walden and Deputy Mayor Becker expressed support for the application, citing the applicant’s track record, the cleanliness of the property, and the perceived compatibility of the proposed business with the agricultural context. However, Walden voiced his concerns regarding technical issues within the zoning by-law.
Councillor Harris suggested that perhaps they needed to reevaluate the bylaw that had caused the planner to make this reccomendation, as they didn’t consider it compatible with the needs of many businesses in Bluewater.
In closing, Mayor Klopp expressed gratitude for the constructive dialogue and reiterated the importance of adhering to planning regulations while also recognizing the value of supporting local businesses and development initiatives within the community.
Despite the planner’s recommendations, a motion was made to accept the proposed zoning by-law amendment, receiving unanimous support.
