A 44-year-old man from Bayfield, is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop where officers suspected impaired driving.
Around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, the driver was observed speeding on Thompson Road in London and crossing the center line multiple times.
Police stopped the vehicle in the area of Gore Road and Montebello Drive.
The driver was arrested, and a search of the car revealed a 9mm rifle, an over-capacity tactical magazine, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a red dot sight.
The charges against the man include:
- Operating a vehicle while impaired
- Failing to comply with a demand made by a peace officer
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition
- Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
- Possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license
- Possessing a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or prohibited device
- Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
