Bert Dykstra, a prominent figure in Huron County’s municipal politics, has died.
The 76-year-old served as reeve for the Municipality of Central Huron for seven years, from 2003 to 2010. In his final year, he also took on the role of warden for Huron County.
Originally from the Netherlands, Dykstra built up his family’s farm near Clinton, Ont., and raised a large family. He was known for his commitment to environmental protection and oversaw the development of several important projects in Central Huron.
To honor his memory, flags in Central Huron are flying at half-mast.
