This week South Huron Council received an update on how things are going with Huron Shores Area Transit from their 2023 stats.
The bus service links Lambton Shores, South Huron, North Middlesex, Bluewater and Kettle and Stony Point with each other and Sarnia, London, Goderich and Strathroy.
Transit Coordinator Susan Mills says business is booming.
While business for the transit service did very well and even went above and beyond projected numbers, Mills says their goal for revenue still came up a bit short last year.
General rising costs also hit them last year.
Mills says Route 1, Sarnia to Grand Bend has taken over from Route 2, Grand Bend to London as the BUSIEST ROUTE, in part, due to students from Sarnia heading to work in Forest and Grand Bend. Routes 3 and 4, in Bluewater and North Middlesex are much less busy and an on demand service may be better in those areas.
The service currently has almost 4,000 bus runs per year with a monthly average ridership of 1672.
