The Municipality of Lambton Shores is pushing for cycling lanes on Highway 21 between Forest and Kettle & Stony Point First Nation as part of a 2024 construction plan.
Council wants the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to include the lanes in the project and a conference in April has been scheduled to discuss the matter.
Originally planned for 2025, the construction was moved to this summer, but the MTO said no to bike lanes, citing policy reasons.
Lambton Shores wants to extend existing lanes and if talks fail, they’ll inform the public.
