Huron Hospice is hosting its third annual Candlelight Memorial Walk. Families and friends are invited to remember loved ones who have passed away by donating to light a memorial candle that will line the Taylor Trail by Varna’s Community Centre, starting at 7pm tomorrow.
Roger Mather, Volunteer at Huron Hospice and Chair of the Walk says they are hosting the event for a very important reason.
This year, the event will start with a procession led by the Clinton Legion Pipe Band.
Following that, there will be reflections on the impact of Huron Hospice in supporting families and a memorial reading of the names of individuals who have passed away, with candles lit in their honor.
Mather says the idea for the event came together after a group fundraising meeting.
Money collected will go towards Huron Hospice’s capital campaign aimed at expanding to a six-bed hospice facility.
For nearly three decades, Huron Hospice has offered compassionate care, emotional support, and practical help to those dealing with life-limiting illnesses.
Volunteers provide relief to primary caregivers, allowing them to take breaks and rest, with support offered to caregivers and families as they navigate the grieving process after losing a loved one.
Mather says they need events like this to raise money due to government funding not being enough.
