The much anticipated transformation of Main Street North is officially kicking off any day now, as the Municipal Council has officially awarded the contract for its reconstruction.
The project, spanning from Ausable River to Walper Street, is poised to commence in mid-April and is scheduled for completion by December.
The project is no small feat – entailing the removal and replacement of sanitary sewers along with service connections to property lines. Additionally, storm sewers will be installed where necessary, alongside the implementation of a new watermain and water service connections.
The road itself will undergo a complete overhaul, featuring new curb and gutter, fresh paving, and upgraded sidewalks.
Throughout the construction phases, efforts will be made to maintain two-lane traffic along Main Street North. However, lane restrictions will be in place as required.
While the contractor endeavors to uphold driveway access whenever possible, there may be instances of restrictions or closures, with affected property owners receiving direct notification.
Residents within the project zone are advised to continue setting out garbage and recycling bins at their designated times and locations. However, bins should be clearly marked with civic addresses to facilitate potential relocation by the constructor if access is obstructed.
