Residents of Exeter and surrounding areas are advised to brace for strong northwesterly wind gusts expected to sweep through the region this afternoon and into tonight.
Northwesterly winds are forecasted to gust near 80 km/h, with some areas near Lake Huron possibly experiencing gusts exceeding 80 km/h, and up to 90km/h heading into the evening.
This could lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for those in proximity to the lakeshores.
These powerful winds have the potential to toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break, increasing the risk of utility outages.
The strong winds are expected to intensify this afternoon and persist through tonight.
