The annual Conservation Dinner hosted by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation on Thursday, April 11th, turned out to be a resounding success, drawing in over 340 attendees and raising tens of thousands of dollars for community projects.
Tim Cumming, the Communications Specialist at the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority said that the success of the event spoke to the community’s unwavering generosity.
Cumming expressed his gratitude towards everyone involved, from volunteers to donors, artists, and local businesses, whose contributions made the event possible.
One of the evening’s highlights was a special appeal to raise funds to send deserving local youths to summer nature day camps. The response was overwhelming, with donations pouring in, totaling over $4,200. This act of generosity will enable at least 22 young individuals to experience the wonders of outdoor education, fostering a deeper connection with nature.
All in all, Cumming didn’t hesitate to label the dinner a success.
Cumming emphasized the vital role played by volunteers, auctioneers, and community partners, including the Exeter Lions Club and the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation, in ensuring the event’s success. Their dedication and commitment to the cause have made a tangible difference in the lives of many, contributing to the health and vitality of the local watershed and community.
Looking ahead, Cumming expressed optimism about the future of the Conservation Dinner, hoping to continue the tradition for years to come.
With plans already in motion for next year’s event, organizers are eager to build upon this year’s achievements and further engage the community in conservation initiatives.
