Lambton Shores’ new short-term rental bylaw has completed its first year with positive feedback. With around 420 registered short-term rentals, the community experienced no significant issues during the summer season, and no licenses were revoked, according to Mayor Doug Cook.
Concerns that arose were responsibly addressed, leading to smoother by-law enforcement processes.
This success has continued into the current year, with the same number of registered short-term rentals expected. The positive outcome underscores the importance of respecting neighbors and adhering to regulations.
While short-term rentals have long been part of the local economy, it’s crucial to ensure that all operators follow the rules, especially in the context of a housing shortage where affordability is a significant concern.
Many property owners offer multiple rental units, highlighting the need for these facilities to support tourism while maintaining harmony within the community.
