In a virtual meeting with regional Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (WOWC) revealed its core priorities for the upcoming year.
Key areas of focus include housing affordability, infrastructure development, workforce support, and addressing mental health, addictions, and homelessness.
Chair Glen McNeil (and Huron County Warden) emphasized the critical nature of these priorities, reflecting the concerns of 1.5 million residents across 15 municipalities in Southwestern Ontario.
The WOWC called for reinstating housing services as eligible development charges, clear communication on infrastructure investments, and increased funding for rural transportation and mental health programs.
Vice-Chair Andy Lennox highlighted the caucus’s commitment to collaboration, stressing the importance of unity in advocating for these priorities. Through proactive engagement, the WOWC aims to influence legislative decisions and enhance the prosperity of rural and small urban communities in the region.
