Residents of Dashwood and surrounding areas are invited to participate in a public open house aimed at shedding light on the upcoming reconstruction project for County Road 83, (or Dashwood Road).
Organized by the County of Huron in partnership with the Municipality of Bluewater and the Municipality of South Huron, this event aims to provide information about the impending changes to one of the busiest roads in Huron County.
Given that 83 serves as a vital artery to Grand Bend, officials are working to minimize disruptions throughout the project..
Scheduled for Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Dashwood Community Centre, the open house will feature representatives from the County, local municipalities, the contractor (Van Bree Enterprises), and the project engineering team (BMROSS).
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts, ask questions, and gain insights into the scope and benefits of the project.
Need for the project stems from the necessary upgrading of aging underground infrastructure and an intention to increase community safety.
The underground infrastructure will be resized to keep pace with current standards, addressing longstanding drainage issues in the area, and increasing water draw capacity for firefighting needs.
Additionally, utility relocation efforts by Festival Hydro will complement the road reconstruction, ensuring a more resilient and accessible thoroughfare – with wider sidewalks compliant with contemporary accessibility standards.
Furthermore, the project incorporates traffic calming measures and safety enhancements, such as mountable curbs and relocated hydro poles.
Being a county road that borders two municipalities, collaboration between all parties involved has been a huge element of the project’s development, with several public information sessions planned to keep residents informed and engaged.
Residents are encouraged to attend and contribute to shaping the future of their local infrastructure.
