The Grand Bend Village Farmers Market is opening for the season this Wednesday, bringing a vibrant array of local produce, crafts, and artisanal wares.
Joan Brady, a director on the board of the Huron County Farmers Market Network, shared insights into what makes this market stand out and why it’s a must-visit destination.

The market, which operates every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., is run alongside the Bayfield Farmers Market on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
According to Brady, what makes the market stand out is it’s emphasis on primary producers alongside artisan crafters and makers, ensuring a diverse yet authentic marketplace experience.
Brady emphasized the importance of maintaining this authenticity, especially in an era where farmers markets face competition from non-primary producers.
For Brady, who has been a vendor at the market since 2002, the market is more than just a place to sell goods—it’s a community hub.

Shopping at the Grand Bend Village Farmers Market isn’t just about purchasing goods; it’s an investment in the community. Brady highlighted the multiplier effect of every dollar spent at the market, with research showing that for every dollar spent, an additional three dollars circulate within the community, supporting other local businesses.
Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of offerings, including local meats, fruits, produce, artisan crafts, prepared foods, and more. Additionally, an exciting event on the horizon is the Young Entrepreneurs Day, providing an opportunity for budding business minds to showcase their ideas and talents.
