Victoria Day is coming up on Monday, May 20th – the weekend is expected to bring a mixture of sun and showers to the region, so don’t make any super outdoorsy plans, as the weather looks quite changeable.
If you’re making plans, it’s important to remember that many local businesses have given their employees a much deserved day off.
Store Hours and Closures:
Prepare for a mix of open and closed signs on Monday. While Hansen’s Independent Grocer in Exeter will be open from 9am – 5pm, Foodland in Exeter plans to operate from 9am – 5pm, ensuring locals can grab any last-minute essentials. In Grand Bend, Sobey’s will be open from 7am to 10pm. It’s best overall to confirm specific opening hours with individual stores if you need to jet out and grab anything.
Government and Services:
Government offices, banks, libraries, and municipal services will be closed for the holiday. LCBO and Beer Store locations will also observe closures. However, essential federal services like passport offices and Canada Post will remain operational.
Healthcare Services:
Emergency departments will remain open – while some outpatient clinics may be closed, emergency services will be available to those in need.
Of course it’s generally regarded as the first weekend of the summer season, so there will likely be more people around than usual, make sure to share the road, share our community, and share your kindness with our visitors.
myFM news will be back on Tuesday, have a great long weekend!
