It’s Paramedic Services Week (from May 19 to 25), and the County of Huron is extending its gratitude to its paramedics.
Huron County Warden Glen McNeil expressed his appreciation for the county’s 108 paramedics, stating, “Huron’s Paramedics are always there when we most need them, going above and beyond to keep us safe. I am immensely grateful for our paramedic team, and this week is a chance for us to thank them and to recognize their unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe and healthy.”
This year’s theme, “Help Us, Help You,” encourages community members to assist paramedics by ensuring their house numbers and driveways are well-lit, keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, and understanding when to call 911. These simple actions can greatly enhance the efficiency and safety of paramedic services, fostering a safer community for all.
The County of Huron’s Emergency Services team, which includes paramedics, coordinates with other emergency responders such as 911 dispatch, fire services, and local law enforcement to provide prompt and effective care. Responding to approximately 10,000 calls annually, this team plays a crucial role in preventing fatalities and stabilizing life-threatening injuries within the community.
