Traffic on the bridge as seen on May 27th
Members of the OPP are asking drivers to be careful, especially when construction starts at the Bluewater Bridge on Wednesday (May 29th), and will last several months. This may cause traffic delays.
Police want drivers to stay alert and be ready for slow or stopped traffic near the Bluewater Bridge. Following other cars too closely or not noticing stopped vehicles can lead to serious accidents.
OPP will keep enforcing traffic rules to ensure safety during the construction. They will use an OPP airplane to help catch drivers who follow too closely.
Drivers who break the law can get a fine and demerit points under Section 158 of the Highway Traffic Act.
