2024 SLED (Supporting Local Economic Development) grant program funds are looking to invest in many local organizations in Huron County.
This year, a total of $100,000 was distributed, with $90,000 contributed by Huron County’s Economic Development Board and $10,000 from Community Futures Huron.
The projects funded in 2024 include a variety of initiatives aimed at bolstering the economic and social fabric of Huron County.
- Centre for Rural Creativity: Supporting the Rural to Rural (R2R) Conference in Blyth to address rural challenges and opportunities.
- Eat Local Huron: Promoting an online retail site for local food products, enhancing local food producer revenues.
- Exeter BIA: Addressing security concerns in downtown Exeter.
- Friends of Hullett: Providing educational opportunities to enhance Huron County’s forestry industry.
- Gateway Center of Excellence in Rural Health: Supporting the SHARP program to attract and retain healthcare workers.
- Goderich Little Theatre: Funding the fall production of “Streamliners,” which highlights Huron County’s history.
- Huron County Pride: Expanding the Pride Festival to a week-long event.
- Huron Manufacturing Association: Offering safety and certification training for local manufacturers.
- Municipality of Bluewater: Providing leadership training for youth.
- Municipality of Central Huron: Promoting accessibility initiatives.
- Municipality of Huron East: Creating videos to highlight the local manufacturing industry.
- Seaforth BIA: Beautifying Seaforth’s Main Street.
- Town of Goderich: Developing the “Salted” brand into new tourism products.
- Township of North Huron: Developing a cricket team to include newcomers.
- Van Egmond Foundation: Building a covered picnic pavilion at the Van Egmond House Museum.
- Wineries & Breweries of Huron County: Establishing an industry organization and hosting a launch event.
