There’s two seasons in Canada – winter, and construction.
This will come as no surprise to those that have been paying attention on their commutes throughout South Huron – construction on the Dashwood Road Reconstruction Project is now officially underway, with primary work kicking off in the past weeks on the Bluewater side of the highway, just west of Dashwood.
This extensive project covers a stretch of nearly a kilometer of road, and is currently expected to continue until October 31 – with further work next year. Residents and commuters should be prepared for alternating traffic and delays when passing through the busy corridor, which serves as a busy route in the summer time for those heading to Grand Bend.
Construction equipment and materials are staged throughout the area, signaling the start of significant infrastructure improvements. The work focuses on upgrading aging underground utilities, including the replacement of the Dashwood-Hay Municipal drain, the watermain, and water services within the County Road corridor.
The project is a collaborative effort between the County of Huron, the Municipality of Bluewater, and the Municipality of South Huron, aimed at enhancing the functionality and safety of this vital roadway. With the project’s completion set for 2025, the community can look forward to a more resilient and accessible thoroughfare.
