It’s that time of year.
With the warm weather in full swing, police are beginning their road safety campaigns with one unique type of on road incident being highlighted.
That was Constable Andrew Gamble.
Police have long said the phrase “don’t veer for deer” – meaning drive straight, even if it means hitting the animal.
While, ideally, no animal or human would be hurt on the roadway – the fact is these types of collisions do happen and it’s best to put YOUR safety as a priority.
While deer can cross the road at any time, there are certain times they are more active.
And if you are seeing one deer cross the road, don’t assume that’s it.
Gamble concluded saying there are several deer crossing signs across the province, especially in rural areas, but deers can cross the road anywhere – from a back road to a busy downtown intersection.
