On June 7th, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will partner with the Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) to conduct emergency response training at F.E. Madill High School in Wingham. Participating units include the West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and OPP Crisis Negotiators.
The high school will be closed to students due to a scheduled P.A. Day. Training is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until approximately 1:00 p.m. Residents will see a significant presence of emergency vehicles and personnel around the school during this time, but there is no cause for alarm.
The exercises will focus on high-risk scenarios, including active attacker situations, to enhance the preparedness and coordination of emergency responders.
This collaboration aims to bolster the effectiveness of emergency responses and ensure the safety of the community in real-life situations.
