The Municipality of Bluewater is diving into Participation Month with a variety of free wellness and fitness programs aimed at promoting health and community spirit. As part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, Bluewater is striving to be recognized as the most active community in Canada, a title that comes with a grand prize of $100,000. This money would fund recreational initiatives throughout the municipality.
That was Recreation Coordinator Denver Boertien – she said that they wanted to get both staff and councilors involved, and did so with an unconventional event that took place on Wednesday afternoon (June 12).
Over two dozen staff, and councillors Winona Bailey and Bill Whetstone turned out to put their backs into it – getting active on a hot June day.
Boertien said that the event was also a good team building exercise.

Participation Month in Bluewater includes a diverse array of classes and activities designed to get everyone moving, from fitness and sports to wellness workshops. The goal is not only to win the ParticipACTION challenge but to inspire a culture of active living within the community.
Residents are encouraged to join in the fun, contribute to the community’s activity tally, and help Bluewater secure the title of Canada’s most active community – and who knows, your contribution could net the $100,000 prize!
