Today is the final day for Zurich residents to submit their option notices to the Municipality of Bluewater to indicate how they’d like to pay for their water.
The new pipeline service saw each household faced with $12,000 in pipeline debt, with options to pay upfront in various increments, or debenture the full cost against their property for 20 years, at a cost of almost $1000 per year added to municipal taxes.
While a few residents have opted to prepay, the majority of early respondents indicated their intention to take up the 20 year debenture – which will be the default for those that have not submitted their option before the end of today.
