On Sunday (June 16), OPP received a report about two dogs locked in a car on Huron Street in Grand Bend.
When officers arrived, they found the locked vehicle with two dogs inside who seemed to be in distress. The officers got into the car and took the dogs to the Lambton OPP Grand Bend Detachment, where they were cared for. The owners of the dogs were found, and as a result a 31 year old from Mississauga, 26 year old from Scarborough, and a 30 year old from Gloucester have been charged.
They have been charged with two counts each of causing damage or injury to an animal by failing to provide adequate food, water, care, or shelter.
All three were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 12, 2024.
The PAWS Act ensures animals are treated humanely, setting basic care standards. Ontario has the toughest provincial penalties in Canada for animal abuse. The Ontario Animal Protection Call Center has been notified and is investigating, with further charges pending.
