The new Community Garden program, spearheaded by Rural Response for Healthy Children, officially launched this morning (June 20th) at the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle.
This initiative aims to educate children about healthy eating and the origins of their food through hands-on gardening experiences.
The program’s inception in Exeter was a collaborative effort, as Pastor Andrea Loohuizen of the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle explained.

Susan Cowman, a parent support and education worker at Rural Response for Healthy Children, highlighted the activities planned for the first session.
In addition to tasting and learning about strawberries, the children engaged in various gardening activities.
Cowman emphasized the educational value of the program.
The eight-week program on Thursday mornings promises a blend of fun and education, teaching children not only about healthy eating but also about the importance of sustainability and self-sufficiency. Registration is available online, but drop-ins are welcome.
The Pentecostal Tabernacle also has a couple of spots available for community planting, if you’re interested, give them a call and start your gardening adventure!
