Huron Shores Area Transit (HSAT) has launched a new online booking app for the Summer Beach bus. Passengers can now pre-book and pay for their trip to Grand Bend and their return trip to London.
By the end of May 2024, ridership was twice as high as the same period in 2023. Many beachgoers have found it convenient and affordable to use the Route 2 Grand Bend/London bus, which has been very busy on summer weekends.
To prepare for a busy summer, HSAT partnered with Betterez to create the online booking app. This app lets passengers book and pay for their seats in advance, making sure they don’t miss their trip to the beach.
The Summer Bus offers four direct return trips from London Transit stop #706 to Sobeys Plaza, Grand Bend. The first bus leaves London at 9:30 am, and the last return trip from Grand Bend leaves at 8:30 pm. The round-trip fare is $20 per passenger, and children aged 12 and under travel free with an adult.
Passengers can easily book their trips on HSAT’s website using a debit or credit card. Since the Summer Bus can only take 24 passengers, it’s important to book tickets early.
Transit Coordinator Susan Mills said, “We expect high demand again this summer, so booking ahead ensures passengers can enjoy a stress-free day at the beach.”
With the online booking app, HSAT is making the best use of its budget and resources. As a result, the practice of arranging taxi rides for beachgoers stranded on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August will stop, since passengers can now book their return trips in advance.
