WestJet’s president says a swift resolution with its mechanics was necessary, marking the end of a strike that disrupted plans for more than 110-thousand travellers over the Canada Day long weekend. There were 829 flight cancellations due to the strike, which began Friday.
MyFM’s Graham Elliott and his wife Jody were about to return home from their HONEYMOON in Mexico when they found out their WestJet flight was cancelled. They quickly found out flights home on other airlines were not ideal.
Graham and Jody found out Saturday morning their flight home was cancelled…and that also meant their transportation TO THE AIRPORT was cancelled.
After finding flights that would take them 17 or 18 hours to get home, they ended up booking on Air Canada, in business class when ended up being very pricey.
They haven’t been able to reach WestJet, but are hoping for some compensation.
