Lambton Public Health has begun its beach water quality monitoring for the summer and a number of local beaches have posted warnings today.
Following testing undertaken at Grand Bend North and South Beach, Ipperwash Main Beach, Bright’s Grove including Mike Weir Park and Canatara Park- our local health unit advises that it is not safe to swim at this time.
This likely comes as a result of the high winds and heavy rainfall we experienced over the past couple days.
During periods when high levels of bacteria are estimated, Lambton Public Health will post warning signs at the beach advising residents the water is unsafe for swimming.
High levels of bacteria in the water can cause skin, ear, eye, nose, and throat infections as well as stomach disorders.
When the bacterial levels in the water return to an acceptable level for swimming, the signs will be removed.
You are reminded to always check to see if the water is safe for swimming before heading to the beach.
You can do so by…
