Yesterday, rainfall in the Nairn area totaled between 120-150mm.
Heavy rain yesterday morning and afternoon led to over 125mm in some southeastern parts of the watershed. The saturated ground caused quick runoff, and more rain is throughout the day today.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) has issued a FLOOD WARNING. Local watercourses are overflowing, causing flooding in low-lying areas and field ponding, resulting in road closures and possible washouts.
Flows on the Ausable River and Parkhill Creeks are expected to peak later this week in North Middlesex and Lambton Shores, especially in the Thedford-Klondyke Marsh area. Water levels will stay high through the weekend. Residents should stay away from high and fast-flowing water.
This warning remains in effect until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19th unless conditions change. ABCA will continue to monitor and provide updates as needed.
