A walking path at Pinery Provincial Park
The Ontario government is offering free day-use access to provincial parks on today (Friday, July 19th), for Healthy Parks Healthy People Day. This initiative highlights the health benefits of spending time in nature.
The government is also enhancing park facilities by adding 300 new campsites and electrifying 800 existing ones, the largest expansion in Ontario Parks’ history. Since 2018, $55.4 million has been invested in building and maintaining park facilities to meet the growing demand.
Throughout the summer, Ontario Parks offers various programs, including guided hikes, the 30×30 Nature Challenge in August, and Take a Hike Day on August 10th.
To ensure access on Healthy Parks Healthy People Day, visitors should reserve a free daily vehicle permit up to five days in advance for the 75 parks that offer this service.
