Wednesday morning around 11:50 a.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services, Goderich Fire Department, and the Canadian Coast Guard were called to the Goderich pier after getting a report about an unconscious person in the water.
The individual was located by the Canadian Coast Guard and transported to the Goderich Hospital where they were pronounced deceased after extensive life-saving efforts.
Officers investigated to find out more information about the individual’s identity and some time later, a family member reported their loved one missing.
The deceased has been identified as a 66-year-old female from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.
Police are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner to determine the cause of their death.
