The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) has announced a COVID-19 outbreak at the Inpatient Unit of Clinton Public Hospital. This means there are two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases among patients that may have been acquired in the hospital.
The unit is closed to new admissions until further notice. HPHA is working with Huron Perth Public Health to handle the situation. Patients, family members, and staff are being informed, and patients are being tested.
Family and caregiver visits have been limited. Only one visitor per patient is allowed each day, with no in-and-out privileges. Visitors must wear protective gear, including a mask, eye protection, gown, and gloves.
Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Control, advises, “COVID-19 is still spreading in the community, so it’s important to stay healthy. Remember to wash your hands often, cough or sneeze into your elbow, and stay home if you’re feeling sick. If you’re unwell, please don’t visit anyone in the hospital to help protect others.”
