The main bridge in Grand Bend will be replaced starting this September. While the Municipality of Lambton Shores aims to ease traffic on major roads in the long run, the next few years will be challenging.
Currently, the intersection and traffic lights can’t handle the high traffic during busy summer weekends.
Last year, construction on the road next to the bridge was finished, including the replacement of major utilities.
The Ontario Street Bridge will be replaced and widened to improve traffic flow. This project will begin in September and is expected to take two years, with work paused during the summer.
Expect delays, and if the road needs to be closed, the nearest detour adds over twenty minutes to travel time.
