Childhood cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death among Canadian children. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to remember the children who have died and support those dealing with cancer. It’s also a chance to raise awareness and highlight the need for research.
The gold ribbon is the global symbol for childhood cancer awareness, representing the preciousness of children.
There are several ways to show support:
Turn on a porch light.
Display an awareness lawn sign.
Join the Childcan Pyjama Walk.
Events in September include:
Huron County: Flag flying starts September 1.
Stratford: Flag raising on September 3 at 8:30 a.m., flying until September 30. Stratford City Council has also declared September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
London: Flag flying and buildings glowing gold from September 3-8. London will proclaim September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
