Lambton County OPP worked hard to keep drivers safe during the last long weekend of the summer. From August 30th to September 2nd, Lambton OPP officers gave out a total of 76 charges and 69 warnings to drivers.
This year, the campaign focused on four key issues: speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, distracted driving, and driving while impaired. These dangerous behaviors are the leading causes of accidents, injuries, and fatalities on Ontario’s roads.
During the Labour Day weekend, the police issued 40 charges for speeding, 3 charges for not wearing a seatbelt, and 7 charges for driving under the influence. No charges were issued for distracted driving.
The Lambton County OPP thanked all the drivers who made the choice to drive safely, as their actions help keep the community safe.
