Huron Soil and Crop to Host Cover Crop Planting Demo Day at Huronview Farm
Huron Soil and Crop is holding a Cover Crop Planting Demonstration Day at Huronview Demo Farm, located just south of Clinton, on Friday (September 20th), at 1 p.m. The event will showcase how cover crops are planted using a modified sprayer and a drone.
The day is a great chance to learn about the benefits of cover crops and new planting methods. Farmers are constantly trying new approaches, like planting rye after corn or oats after beans, to improve soil health.
At the event, attendees will see cover crops applied to the land using a modified Fendt® Rogator® sprayer and a demonstration of planting with a drone.
Cover crops benefit both landowners and the community by improving soil health, protecting water quality, and reducing the loss of nutrients and topsoil through wind and water erosion. They also help slow down water runoff, making the land more sustainable.
