The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the West Region, along with Traffic Safety and Marine, are starting the ‘Drive Smart: Keep It Safe’ campaign to address stunt driving and illegally modified vehicles. This campaign will run from September 23rd, to September 29th, across Southwestern Ontario.
Stunt driving, such as speeding and aggressive moves, puts everyone on the road in danger—drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Each time someone drives recklessly, they risk their life and the lives of others.
Illegally modified vehicles can also cause safety problems by affecting visibility and handling, making them harder to control and more likely to cause accidents.
During this campaign, the OPP will increase patrols and inspect modified vehicles to stop these unsafe behaviors. Their goal is to enforce the law and also educate drivers about the serious risks of dangerous driving.
Drivers caught stunt driving or using illegally modified vehicles can face large fines, points on their license, and even have their vehicles impounded.
The OPP encourages the public to work together to create safer roads. The choices made while driving can save lives, so it’s important to drive smart and responsibly. Everyone has a part in keeping the roads safe.
